Hopefully this means the chances of a PS4 and perhaps switch releases down the internet are appearing good. And with how games such as Fortnite and Minecraft are, hopefully PSO2 has cross-saves too.On that the JP server, you may use the exact same Sega ID and log into all versions of Phantasy Star Online 2 and also maintain your characters and progress. PC players can connect to whatever block they need. Blocks are similar to stations that you’d see in other mmorpgs.

Yeah sorta, but more with a persistent world that is open. Such as the idea that if you log out, the entire world goes on and stuff happens without you there. It exists/persists independent of you. When you log back in it should be more like you are stepping in to a virtual universe with characters already going around doing things, not”starting a match”. I really could paragraphs on the topic but it’s just arguing semantics at this stage since genres are so muddied and many MMOs instance the hell from everything for balance/server reasons anyhow. Like Destiny is all but an MMORPG with the sole difference being the number of players around the map and shitty communicating systems.

Well I’d assert that Destiny 2 matches the genre just fine, except I would call it an MMOFPS. However, that’s not vital. I never played the original Destiny so I can not speak to this, although my understanding is that the two games are alike in this respect. Maybe an open world is demanded; I don’t think it is. I believe it to be an MMORPG, a game needs to have a large number of gamers playing simultaneously in groups or not, also it needs to at some point be an RPG. I will say though that the lobby in PSO2 where everyone gathers and can their town stuff IS persistent. Or at least it’s as stubborn as Dalaran in WoW is.

Like just their sometimes very narrow perspective of the genre is valid and all others are.. I do not even know.. something else. If it’s an RPG of some sort with a slew of people playing online at precisely the exact same time.it’s an MMORPG. It might not be exactly what you think of if that term is utilized, but that’s exactly what the word actually means.
